All 3-Day Paris Itineraries

Every 3-day Paris itinerary on this site is on this page: thirty themed routes plus the classic route on the home page, grouped by the kind of trip they were written for. Each one fills three full days, keeps every day in one part of the city, books the timed tickets in advance and puts the days in an order that avoids the museums' closing days. The table for each group shows what the three days contain and where the tickets start, per adult.

If you are not sure where to start, the planner on the home page asks who is traveling, when and what you enjoy, and picks the best route for you. If this is your first visit, the classic route is the one most people should take.

💡 Pro Tip
Mix two routes if you like
The routes are built day by day, and the days are self-contained. Taking Day 1 of one route and Days 2 and 3 of another works well, as long as you check the closing days in each route's table.

Shorter and longer trips

💡 Pro Tip
Count your full days before choosing
Subtract the arrival afternoon and the departure morning from your trip, then pick the itinerary that matches the full days left. A Friday-to-Monday trip is usually two full days, not four.

Not every trip is three days. These itineraries use the same principles for other lengths, and say plainly what to add or drop.

4 days in ParisA first visit with Versailles or Montmartre as the extra day

How every route on this site is built

  • Three full days. The arrival evening and the departure morning are planned separately and never count as days.
  • One area per day. Each day stays in one part of the city, so that you walk between the stops and use the metro only to get there.
  • Timed tickets first. Every route lists the tickets to book before you fly, with the day and the time they are used.
  • Closing days checked. Each route shows which days its sights close and an order of days that avoids them; the planner does it automatically for your dates.
  • No near-duplicates. No two routes share more than half of their stops, so each one is a genuinely different trip.
  • A rain plan for every day. Each day ends with what to change if the weather turns.
💡 Pro Tip
Check each day's numbers
Every day on every route has a small table with the walking distance, the metro lines and the ticket cost. It is the quickest way to tell whether a route suits your legs and your budget before you commit to it.

Questions about the 3-day Paris itineraries

Which 3-day Paris itinerary is best for a first visit?
Start with the classic route on the home page; it covers the sights almost every first-timer wants. Switch to a themed route only if you travel with children, come in a particular season or already know the classics.
Can I change the order of the days?
Yes. Each route shows which days its sights close; the planner on the home page reorders the days for your arrival date.
Are the routes suitable for children?
The four family routes are built for children of different ages. Most other routes work with older children if you shorten the days.
Do the routes include ticket prices?
Yes. Each route lists the timed tickets with the price they start at, and every day shows its ticket cost per adult.
Can I combine two routes?
Yes. The days are self-contained, so taking days from two routes works, as long as you keep each sight off its closing day.
Is there a route for bad weather?
Yes, Rainy days in Paris: three days that stay dry, with museums, covered passages and the Catacombs.
